What is Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability)?
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) reflects the role of workers who provide person-centred support to people who may require assistance due to ageing, disability or other reasons.
Workers may provide support in community, home or residential care settings, working under supervision and delegation as part of a care or support team and following an individualised plan.
This qualification develops the practical, communication, legal, ethical and technical skills required to provide safe, respectful and person-centred support.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Employment in the sector is not required to enrol.
Before enrolment, Quest Training Solutions will discuss the course requirements, your chosen delivery option, learning and support needs, and work placement requirements to help determine whether the course is suitable for you.
Students must be able to participate in the practical requirements of the course and complete the mandatory work placement, with reasonable adjustment where appropriate.
Before work placement, students may be required to provide evidence such as a
National Police Check, Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, current First Aid certification
and other health, screening, induction or documentation requirements applicable to the placement.

Skilled Capital – ACT Government Funded Training
Skilled Capital student fee: $400
Skilled Capital is an ACT Government funded training initiative. Funded places are subject to availability and students must meet the applicable ACT Government eligibility requirements. Quest Training Solutions will confirm your eligibility and the availability of a funded place before your enrolment is finalised.
As a minimum, to be eligible for a Skilled Capital funded place you must:
Fee concession: Eligible students may qualify for a reduced student fee of $200 if they hold a current Health Care Card or Pension Card at commencement, or can demonstrate genuine financial hardship. For students under 18, a parent or guardian’s eligible card may apply.
Quest may also consider waiving the remaining tuition fee in genuine financial hardship circumstances. Supporting evidence may be required.
Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a funded place.
Funded places are limited and subject to availability. Please contact Quest Training Solutions for current availability and to confirm your eligibility before enrolling.
Additional costs
Some costs are separate from the course fee and may apply depending on your enrolment type and work placement requirements.
First Aid: A current First Aid certificate is required before work placement.
For Fee-for-Service students who do not already hold a current First Aid certificate, Quest can provide First Aid training for an additional $120.
For students enrolled under Skilled Capital, First Aid training is included as part of the funded training arrangements.
External provider and placement-related costs may change and are generally the student’s responsibility unless otherwise advised.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
All students complete Quest Training’s Foundation Skills Assessment before enrolment is finalised.
The assessment helps us understand your language, literacy, numeracy and learning needs and determine whether the course is suitable for you.
It also helps us identify any support that may assist you during your training.
Where support needs are identified, Quest will discuss appropriate support strategies and reasonable adjustment with you.

How is the training delivered?
CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is delivered through a blended learning model.
Students can choose the delivery option that best suits their availability and learning needs.
Both delivery options lead to the same qualification and include online learning and assessment through Canvas, required face-to-face practical activities, simulations and role plays, trainer support, workplace-based assessment activities and a compulsory 120-hour supervised work placement.
Flexible Delivery
Flexible Delivery allows students to work through the course more independently and at their own pace within the agreed course timeframe.
Learning and online assessments are completed through Canvas, with students attending Quest for required practical activities, simulations, role plays and assessments.
Intensive – Trainer Led Delivery
Intensive Delivery provides structured, trainer-led learning through a scheduled 4-week face-to-face workshop program, generally Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Training is supported by online learning and assessment through Canvas.
All students complete a Student Induction Module before commencing their course and are required to follow the planned training and assessment sequence.
This course cannot be completed entirely online.
Course Duration
Course duration varies depending on your chosen delivery option, individual progress, prior experience, support needs, assessment completion and work placement arrangements.
All students must also complete at least 120 hours of supervised work placement.
Your Training Plan will outline your planned training sequence, target dates and expected course completion timeframe.
Skilled Capital students: the funded training period for CHC33021 is 12 months.
Quest will advise you of your funded due-to-complete date and include the timeframe in your Training Plan.

To achieve the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), students must successfully complete 15 units of competency – 9 core units and 6 elective units.

Electives have been selected by Quest Training Solutions following industry consultation and to meet the requirements for the Ageing and Disability specialisation.
Assessment
Training and assessment at Quest Training Solutions is competency-based. Students are assessed against the requirements of the relevant units of competency.
Assessment methods may include:
Individual assessment tasks may be recorded as Satisfactory (S) or Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS). Unit outcomes are recorded as Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC).
A unit can only be finalised as Competent once all required assessment evidence has been satisfactorily completed.
This may include online assessments, practical activities, simulations and workplace evidence.
Work Placement
Work placement is a mandatory component of this qualification.
Students must complete at least 120 hours of supervised work placement in an approved aged care or disability support workplace.
Work placement provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills developed during training in a real care and support environment and to complete workplace-based assessment activities.
Quest Training Solutions works with students to coordinate suitable placement arrangements with approved host organisations, subject to student readiness, placement requirements, host availability and acceptance.
Students who are already working in a suitable workplace, or who know an organisation that may be willing to provide placement, should discuss this with Quest.
The workplace must be assessed and approved by Quest before placement can commence.
Students must complete the required training, practical assessments and placement preparation requirements before commencing work placement.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
Quest Training Solutions recognises relevant skills and knowledge gained through previous study, work experience or other learning.
Credit Transfer may be available where you have previously completed the same or an equivalent unit of competency.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be available where you can provide sufficient evidence that you already meet the requirements of one or more units of competency.
Please discuss RPL or Credit Transfer with Quest during the enrolment process so it can be considered as part of your Training Plan.
For Skilled Capital students, funding rules may apply to RPL and Credit Transfer. Quest will explain any impact on your funded enrolment before it is finalised.
